FERNS: ferns have large leaves called FRONDS .They produce spores inside SORI on the back of the fronds.Ferns have thick stem, called RHIZOME, and roots that grow underground.
They have very simple stems ands leaves. They produce spores inside capsules. Mosess do not have roots. They have rhizoids, samll hairs that hold the plant in the soil.
Leaves have goot two main functios:
.- they produce food for the plant.
.- they help the plant breathe to exchange gases with help the atmosphere.
Most leaves have two parst the petiole and the blade.Thw blade is the flat part of the leaf. The petilope connects the blade to the plant,s stem
,-veins in the blade supoort the leaft and carry water and minerals. On the back of the blede, there are tiny holes, called stomato. the stomata allow gases to enter and exit the leaf. the plant makes its own food in the leaves. leaves contain chlorophyll, a green substance which is necessary for photosynthesis. chlorophyll gives leaves their green colour.
The stem has two main function :
it keeps the plant stading up.It can be woody {rigid}or herbaceous {soft}.Plant with a woody stem include roses, hibiscus and mango trees.Tulips,,orchids and sunflouers have a herbaceous stem.
it transport water and nutrients to and from the leaves.
They absorb water and minerals from the soil wich the plant needs for nutrion. Most of the water and minerals travel up the roots trough tiny root hairs.
